Have you ever run a load of dishes only to find that the dishes still looked dirty? This is often caused by a clogged or dirty dishwasher. Food and grease can accumulate over time reducing your dishwasher’s ability to drain properly. This buildup can also leave your dishwasher dirty and smelling rather foul.
Using a brush dipped in hot, soapy water gently rub the rubber seals around the door.
Using a toothbrush dipped in hot, soapy water to gently scrub the rubber gasket around the door. This is also a great time to check the gasket for cracks, tears or a loose fitting.Use a sponge dipped in hot, soapy water to pick up and dirt removed with the toothbrush.
Slide out the bottom rack and clean the bottom or tub of your dishwasher and around the drain area. Check to make sure nothing is blocking the drain.
Fill a cup with white vinegar and place it on the top rack of the dishwasher. Run a cycle with nothing in the dishwasher but the cup of vinegar. This will help take care of any odors and will also help to remove any grime left behind.
If you see any stains, use a 1/3 vinegar, 2/3 water spray mixture and then spray and wipe with a sponge.
Occasionally sprinkle baking soda in the tub between cleanings to remove unpleasant odors and run it through a quick wash using hot water.
